Ready for a #FunFact? Contrary to popular belief, January 1 isn’t actually the New Year. Many cultures have their own official New Year starting on or around the vernal equinox, the official start of spring. In the Northern Hemisphere Americas, the Spring or Vernal Equinox 2023 is Monday, March 20th at 5:24 P.M. EDT.

It marks the days getting longer and signals a new beginning. On April 1st, Hindus around the world celebrate Gudi Padwa, or their New Year. Meanwhile, Iranians are already in the swing of things for Nowruz, their version of the vernal equinox that kicks off in mid-March and continues for 13 days. With spring in full swing and 2023 in full bloom, let’s commemorate this fresh new year with a remarkable inaugural event!
