Yes, we have high standards! Yes, we measure and assess our learning. What we don’t do are compete for standardized test scores that don’t measure every aspect of genius our children possess.
Textbooks and References
We use high quality reference materials for everything we teach, especially when those subjects are covered in a non-traditional way that best meets the needs of our students and their families. We work directly with Two Horizons Press and Supreme Design Publishing to provide all students with great literature that addresses their world uniquely!
Testing and Evaluations
We create most of our own assessment measures and reports by working with our students, parents and teachers. We even teach our students how to self-evaluate their progress. We also allow students to take mainstream tests like the ITBS, to see how they’re doing (in traditional curriculum) compared to other students across the country.
Student Demonstrations of Learning
Every week, you’ll see many different measures and evidence of what they’re learning! Part of their homework is to share it with their families! Students will learn how to speak publicly about their learning, to do presentations for their family and community, and to write and publish about their experiences. We also encourage theater and the performing arts, so we put together festivals, fairs, and other fun events every month!
