The Atlanta State Farmers Market
Like fresh produce? Want to experience an open-air farmers market where you can get anything from a sack of onions to a box of coconuts. This isn’t just any farmer’s market. The Atlanta State Farmer’s Market is right there when you enter the city from I-75, but people miss it. If you’re looking for great food, Don Burrito’s is actually amazing. And vegetarian-friendly too. Plus there are businesses in the back that sell outdoor plants and fruit trees!
Brunch at King of Diamonds
I know what you’re thinking. But this is a brunch experience that could be fun for grandma too. Seriously. Nothing crazy, just music and fun with some great food. If you RSVP your entire cost could be as little as $10. This includes a food buffet full of everything, even a few great vegetarian sides.
Los Amigos Latin Bar & Grill
Ever had a pupusa? If not, you should check out the Salvadorian restaurant across the street from our community garden! Their prices are great and their food is impeccable. Their Pan con Todo breakfast sandwich is a lot of food for $6!
Lake City Farmers Market
Technically this is just outside Forest Park, but it’s worth mentioning! Why? After the outdoor farmer’s market on the other end of Forest Parkway, the international market in Lake City makes for a complete shopping trip. All kinds of international foods and exotic stuff, plus all the basics for good prices.
The Family Circle Community Garden in Forest Park
Adjacent to the insurance building on 532 Forest Parkway and across the street from Los Amigos, this circular garden offers a peaceful walking labyrinth that winds around over two dozen circular garden beds, each hosting a variety of edible and medicinal plants. Stay tuned to this website for updates on the garden and upcoming events.
Shooting Range
Range, Guns, and Safes on 285 Lake Mirror Rd is another great place to shop, and to shoot!
Starr Park
Near City Hall, this park always has great community events and festivals to check out. We will post those events on this site.
Rooms to Go Outlet
One of my favorite places to get affordable furniture. In fact, I would go to the clearance section and find really cheap pieces that I could put together somehow. I assembled a king size bed frame with parts that cost me only $50!
